OUR FORTHCOMING PROGRAMME
DURING 2007-2008 INCLUDE:
  1. On December 7, 8, 9, 10, 2007, we are organizing the FIRST-EVER SAARC FOLKLORE FESTIVAL, with Research Scholars, and Folklore and Folk Theatre Performers, Singers, Dancers, et. al. In Delhi. Prof. K. Satchidanandan is the Chief Coordinator-Director of this event, Dr. Chandrabhanu Pattanayak is the Chief Consultant. This SEMINAR-CUM-FESTIVAL OF SAARC FOLKLORE will explore the Common Cultural and Civilisational Roots of the SAARC Region through exploring and projecting the Folklore of South Asia.
  2. In the last week of January 2008, we are having a SAARC FESTIVAL OF YOUNG POETS in Orissa : Bhubaneshwar and Puri. Young poets from all the 8 SAARC countries will participate.
  3. The POETRY FESTIVAL OF BOTH PUNJABS will again be held in Lahore and Islamabad and Faislabad and Multan in Pakistan, with different poets participating, in February 2008.
  4. In March 2008, a SAARC TRANSLATION WORKSHOP is being organised in Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan. Translation of Poetry and Fiction for Anthologies. And then, their editing and publications.
  5. A major CONFERENCE ON BUDDHISM in Dharamshala, which will hopefully be Inaugurated by His Holiness Dalai Lama, will be held in March-April 2008. Buddhism is a great civilisational link in the SAARC region, its message of peace and tolerance and reconciliation is so relevant in modern times of terror and violence. This is to be organised by Dr. Renuka Singh, Vice President of Academy of Fine Arts and Literature, Professor in JNU, scholar on Buddhism. Dates depend on His Holiness Dalai Lama's availability to Inaugurate the Conference.
  6. We are trying to organize a CONFERENCE ON WORLD TERROR, ISLAMOPHOBIA, AND PATH TO RECONCILIATION. In Kathmandu. In the first half of 2008. Whenever our Nepal Chapter is ready with the modalities and implementation. And whenever political situation in Nepal is conducive to holding such a Conference. Or, in Thimpu, Bhutan.
  7. In 2008, we are planning to organise a CONFERENCE OF SAARC WOMEN WRITERS AND ACTIVISTS, in Delhi or in Guwahati. Prof. Indira Goswami will be the Chief Coordinator of this Conference.
  8. In 2008, we are organizing a SAARC WRITERS CONFERENCE, WITH SPECIAL FOCUS ON SUSTAINABLE AND EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT IN SOUTH ASIA, in Colombo, in collaboration with The Centre for Social Policy Analysis and Research, University of Colombo. Prof. S.T. Hettige will be the Chief Coordinator of this Conference.
  9. During 2008, YOUNG BANGLA POETS FESTIVAL will be held in Kolkata. Bangla Poets from Bangladesh and from West Bengal will participate.
  10. During 2008, SAARC-CHINA WRITERS' INTERACTION will be held in collaboration with the Shanghai Writers' Association and the Chinese Writers' Association.
  11. The First-ever SAARC FESTIVAL OF WRITERS WITH SPECIAL FOCUS ON NORTH-EAST will be held in Guwahati. To be organised by Prof. Indira Goswami, Vice President of FOSWAL, eminent Assamese writer.
  12. TRANSLATIONS of writings in different languages of South Asia into English, and from English into regional national languages of all the SAARC countries, as part of the Foundation's ongoing programme of translations. And because the SAARC SUMMIT of Ministers of Culture unanimously decided that FOSWAL should be assigned the work of translations of SAARC literature.
  13. During 2008, we shall be bringing out two volumes of Anthology of Contemporary Short Fiction of India and Nepal : in Nepali and in English, in collaboration with the FOSWAL's Nepal Chapter.
  14. During the next few months we shall be bringing out two Anthologies of Women Writers of SAARC countries : fiction and poetry, born out of turmoils and struggles of women in this region of socio-economic churning, ethnic strifes. The first anthology is in the press.
  15. The quarterly SAARC Journal 'BEYOND BORDERS'.
