December 2000 The literary gathering ‘Dialogue’ was
held on 30 December. One of the most eminent Hindi fiction writers of
the era, and editor of ‘Hans’, Rajendra Yadav presided over the meet and
read out one of his stories. He also released Rajesh Jain’s novel ‘Bandh
Vadh’. Ashok Vajpeyi was the most honoured poet of the evening. Other
well-known poets of the evening were : Laxmi Shankar Vajpeyi (Hindi),
Seema Quasim (English) and Shahid Mahuli (Urdu). Chander Prakash
Prabhakar read out Hindi translation of some Burmese
poems.
January 2001 The literary meet ‘Dialogue’ was
held on 27 January . Madhavan Kutty, a Malayalam fiction writer,
presided over the meet and read out a part of his
novel. Manglesh Dabral, the renowned Hindi poet, was the Chief
Guest whose Sahitya Academy Award was celebrated. Yariv Ovadia,
Cultural Secretary of Israel Embassy, read out two Hebrew poems in
English translation. Vinod Sharma read out Yehuda Amicha’s Hebrew poems
in Hindi translation, and Ajeet Cour read Punjabi translations of the
same. Other well-known poets of the evening were : Prayag Shukla
(Hindi), Seemab Sultanpuri (Urdu), Har Prasad Dass (Oriya). Mr.
Kumar Kaustab read out Hindi translations of Pushkin’s love
poems.

February 2001 The literary
meet ‘Dialogue’ was held on 24 February. Eminent Hindi fiction writer
Himanshu Joshi presided over the ‘Dialogue’ and read out one of his
stories. H.E. Janab Mostafa Faruque Mohammad, High Commissioner of
Bangladesh in India, was the Chief Guest of the evening. Eminent Hindi
poet Kailash Vajpeyi read out his new poems. Other well-known poets of the
evening were : Shahpar Rasool (Urdu), Sati Kumar (Hindi), Jasbir Kaur
(Punjabi), and Meena Chopra (English). Chander Prabha Pandey read out
Hindi translations of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s poems in
Hindi.
March
2001 The literary meet ‘Dialogue’ was held on March 31. Eminent
Hindi poet, Ashok Vajpeyi, presided over the meet and read out his
poems. Vinod Sharma’s book of prose – ‘Apne Samay Mein Jeena’ – was
released by Ashok Vajpeyi who spoke very highly of the vision presented
in Vinod Sharma’s book. Uma Vasudev read her short story in
English. Other well-known poets of the evening were : Shaharyar and
Jamila Bano Gupta (Urdu), Raj Kumar Saini (Hindi), and Manmohan
(Punjabi). Satya Bhushan Verma read out his Hindi translations of
Japanese poems. |
