August 2000 The literary meet ‘Dialogue’ was held
on August 29. Prominent Hindi critic Manager Pandey presided over the
meet. Eminent poets –Ashok Vajpeyi (Hindi), Pavan Varma (English), and
Vimal Kumar (Hindi) recited their new poems. The much talked about
author Maitreyi Pushpa read out a chapter from her untitled novel (still
in the process of completion). The well-known poet of ‘Akavita’ movement
in Hindi, Soumitra Mohan, read the recordings of his dreams from his
‘Ratriswapna’ series. Veteran writer and translator Prabhati Nautiyal
presented Hindi translations of poems by the great Spanish poet Federico
Garcia Lorca.
September 2000 The literary meet
‘Dialogue’ was held on September 26. The much talked about and very
eminent Hindi writer Krishna Baldev Vaid presided over the meet and read
an excerpt from his new, unpublished novel. Prominent Hindi writer
Devinder Issar read out his short story. Several eminent poets
participated. Rukmani Bhaya Nair read her English poems, and
Priyadarshan read out his Hindi poems. Visiting poets - Dev from
Switzerland and Sohan Qadri from Denmark- read their poems. Veteran
writer and translator Meenakshi Puri read out translations of Tamil
poetry.

October 2000 The literary meet ‘Dialogue’ was held on 28
October. Eminent Hindi scholar and an authority on theatre, Nemi Chand
Jain, presided over the meet and read out his new poems. Prominent Hindi
writer Pamila Mansi read her short story. Eminent poets participated in
the ‘Dialogue’. Former Prime Minister Mr. V.P. Singh read out his
latest poems. Other poets of the evening were : Noorjahan Sarwat
(Urdu), Rita Malhotra (English), Preetpal Kaur (Hindi). Mr. Divik
Ramesh read out translations of Korean poetry. Visiting poet from
Manali, Nalini Kanunga, read her poems in English and said with deep
emotions, “This is the first time during my fifty years of writing poetry
that I got a forum to share it with fellow writers. This ‘mehfil’ is a
unique place, with a charged and vibrant atmosphere. I am really lucky to
be here with all of you.
November 2000 The Literary Meet ‘Dialogue’ was held on
November 2. Eminent Hindi/Punjabi poet Sheila Gujral presided over the
meet and read out her poems. Prominent Hindi writer Mridula Garg read
out her short story:‘Mere Desh Ki Mitti Aha’. Other well-known poets of
the evening were: Balbir Madhopuri (Punjabi), Uma Trilok (English), Vidya
Sharma and Sheo Narayan Singh Anived (Hindi). Three visiting writers
from Pakistan also participated in this ‘Dialogue’ programme and read
their poems. Rajendra Gautam read out a translation of Assamese
poetry. Ranjan Zaidi, the poet, compered the proceedings. |
